CEA’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) engages 50 local, youth workers, ages 14-21 in paid work activities. The youth receive training in work readiness, interpersonal communication, and community development training, as well as a stipend.
The SYEP is a paid work experience where youth are taught to work in the field of Community Development. Their experiences range from:
- Teaching and discussing how to empower community members and stakeholders to voice their challenges, concerns and expectations;
- Enlightening public and social services organizations and professionals on how to significantly improve the quality;
- Examining the effectiveness and efficiency of services and treatment of African American children, youth and families.
